Beans
Beans are a staple here in Tanzania, and we're thankful. We love them! They just take a little longer to prepare than we're used to. The result is worth the work though...yummm!

huge piles of fish
When we walk into the market, one of the first things we notice is the smell of dried fish. There are huge piles of little dried fish called 'dagaa.' Tanzanians love to eat them boiled and mixed with ugali. We haven't tried them yet :)

Bible teaching again...this time in Swahili
My first assignment in Musoma is to develop my Swahili ability. In my role as translation advisor I will be working with Tanzanian translators who speak both Swahili and a minority language. Therefore, I need to improve my Swahili level. So I'm teaching at a Bible College....in Swahili.

"Good morning, Madam"
These students are practicing their English. It's funny because I'm a guy and it's the middle of the afternoon. |

We have furniture!!
Well, at least we have one piece of furniture...
This love seat was hand-crafted by a local carpenter. He's a great guy and does fantastic work.
Here's the process:
First, we found a design we liked and placed our order.
Then the carpenter bought the lumber and let it dry for two weeks.
Then the carpenter built the love seat.
Then we bought the "cushions" (square pieces of foam) at another shop.
Then we went to another shop to choose and buy fabric to cover the foam.
Then we found a tailor to sew the cushion covers for us.
Then we borrowed a van to bring the final product to our home.
We love it!
Next on the list...a dining table and chairs. That will be fun!
