On our second night in Musoma, we were warmly greeted by an invasion of "lake flies." Remember the plague of flies in Egypt....just sayin'.
This swarm of tiny flies appears mysteriously out over Lake Victoria.
It looks like smoke on the water, but then the wind blows it closer to land.
These flies cover everything. They don't bite, they don't sting, the just fly into your mouth and nose and ears and eyes and clothes and hair and....you get the idea. Then, after a couple days, they die. That's it.
We learned later that lake flies are attracted to light. The trick is to turn off all the lights.
