Camp Lebanon: a meeting place with God

Looking for a fun place to vacation with the family and be strengthened in your faith?  Check out Camp Lebanon in Minnesota.

I grew up at this camp because my parents have served on staff there for 23 years.  I loved camp as a camper but I also enjoyed camp as a staffer: maintenance, dishwasher, counselor, supervisor.  It was a great opportunity to grow in my faith, develop leadership skills, and build life-long friendships.  Just last week Jeannette and I were privileged to be the "Missionary of the Week."

The mission of Camp Lebanon is to provide a meeting place with God to help the Church do the work of Christ.  They offer programs all year round for all ages as well as specialized programs like Quilt Retreat and Men's Retreat.

The message of Camp Lebanon is unmistakably Jesus and uncompromisingly biblical.  They also believe in having the "funnest" fun!!

bacteria water

Today we purchased this water filtration/purification system (can you really call it a "system" when it's just two buckets?) because all drinking water must be purified in Tanzania.  We even have to brush our teeth with purified water!  Some of the possible waterborne diseases are: Typhoid, Hepatitis, Diarrhea, Schistosomiasis, Cholera, and Dysentery.  Yuck!

After buying it, I went to the kitchen and drank a glass of water from the faucet.  Thank God for clean water!!

 Just for fun...
>>Actually, the technology is quite fascinating.  The top bucket removes sediment with a 30 micron filter.  Then the bottom bucket uses a filter with pentaiodide resin which attracts contaminants in the water and releases just enough iodine to kill the disease.  Pretty smart, huh?  Yeah, NASA uses it.

And that makes number three, this time Jeannette was the warrior....No, wait, this just in...NUMBER 4

Three!?!  Really!?!  What are we, tarantula magnets?

Jeannette was the hero this time.  It was climbing up the wall next to our front door and she beat it to death.  (My wife is awesome!)

Look, it's as big as our car!!

THIS JUST IN.....

Number 4!

We took a video to document it because no one else in Texas has seen this many at one time.

THIS is why all Texans wear cowboy boots

I stepped outside in my barefeet to take out the garbage (like I do every morning) and suddenly realized THIS is why all Texans wear cowboy boots...

It reminds me of our encounter last Fall:
